From December 21st-23rd 2020, primary-aged children from across Thailand are welcome to attend UWC Thailand International School’s 3-day, Phuket Cultural & Adventure Camp. Join us to explore the great outdoors, get immersed in Phuket’s local culture and engage in activities that have a real impact on the natural environment and the local community. Children will be able to try their hand at Batik on Sa paper, master obstacle courses, plant mangroves and release baby turtles back into the sea! This camp will provide an excellent opportunity for your child to build their self-confidence, form new friendships, and improve their teamwork skills. Your children will also benefit from local knowledge, with our expert tour guides (also UWC Thailand teachers), Kru Kanok and her cultural team. To see an overview of each day’s activity, please scroll down. The camp costs THB 7,000 inclusive. Registration closes December 9, so book today.

MON, DEC 21 8:30AM-3:30PM

Go on a mangrove planting expedition!

Our campers will plant mangroves raised by UWC Thailand students in our very own nursery and learn why they are important to Phuket’s ecology and culture. After lunch, travel to Phuket Town to study Sino European architecture and street art, before trying your hand at creating a Batik on Sa paper!

TUES, DEC 22 8:30AM-3:30PM

Release baby turtles back into the sea!

Visit a turtle foundation to learn about nesting sea turtles, how we can best support them, and then help participate in a baby turtle release. After lunch, work as a team to conquer Thanyapura’s adventure obstacle course before cooking traditional and delicious Southern Thai cuisine.

WED, DEC 23 10AM-5PM

Hike to a waterfall and finish with a campfire!

Hike in Khao Pra Taew National Park, splash in the waterfall, learn about local plants and animals, and how to cook and survive in the jungle! After lunch, use clay to create a work of Phuket-inspired art. At 5pm, parents are invited to join campers at UWCT to roast some marshmallows over a campfire.

Why not make the most of this opportunity and spend the Christmas season in beautiful Phuket. Special room rate discounts are available from our partner hotels. Please email kanok.c@uwcthailand.ac.th for details.

This camp involves a lot of physical activity. Your child should be prepared for several hours of physical exertion each day. We recommend packing an extra set of clothing (including socks and shoes) each day as campers may get wet at the beach and in the national park. Campers will be required to wear face masks and comply with Covid-19 prevention measures as mandated by the Thai government. Don’t forget, registration closes December 9, so book today.
