On Sunday 2 February, Grade 5 students Cecil and Ray competed in the World Mathematics Championship (WMC)Thailand in Bangkok, after qualifying through the ROCK (Recall of Core Knowledge) online challenge.
Cecil and Ray enjoyed a full day of fun Math activities, both individually and in teams, and to meet and collaborate with other math enthusiasts from schools across Thailand.
Students are assessed in the four areas: creativity, collaboration, strategy and challenge.
Cecil received 3 gold and 1 silver medals and won the overall medal in Primary; while Ray received 2 gold and 1 bronze medals.
Three other students (Richard and Kunming G5, Guilin G7) also took part and qualified in the ROCK online round but chose not to attend the final.
Cecil also participated in the TIMO (Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad) that took place in KIS in October 2019 and won a silver medal, qualifying for the finals in Chiang Mai in April.
Thank you to our parents and teachers for their efforts in nurturing the students’ passion in math at our school, and congratulations to our brilliant students.
