UWCT Students Camilo, Richard and Alejandro are running a rocket science Co-Curricular Activity (CCA), in which they are learning about rocket science in a self-taught way. They are striving to achieve a long term goal of developing a rocket that doesn’t require fuels to liftoff.
Current rockets have massive fuel consumption, ultra-high costs, and very high polluting impact. Burning fuels at this pace will result in a shortage of resources that will diminish space exploration.
Achieving this goal would reduce the fuel consumption off launching rockets by 80% enabling future generations to explore space at a greater pace, with less costs and with less resource consumption.
It is a very ambitious goal and that’s why we’ve been working on it since the moment we had the idea.
